Sunday 2nd July 6.30pm The TararĂ¡ documentary tells the story of two Ukrainian children who were treated in Cuba after the Chernobyl accident. Sunday 25th  June 6.30pm   Culture Shock - arriving in Britain Kirti Joshi   Kirti Joshi came to England as a refugee child from Uganda. She describes her experiences, the culture shock of settling in Leicester and her education here.   Author of Culture Shock which is published by Penguin Books in an anthology called 'From There To Here'. Kirti has a Masters degree in Psychological Wellbeing from DMU together with a Diploma in Teaching and Training. She  specialises in helping individuals reach their personal and organisational potential through challenging circumstances such as stress, substance misuse, anxiety or depression .   Sunday 11th June 6.30pm   The Cricket Wars of 1885 Cynthia Brown Leicester Secular Society made the national news when it tried to play cricket on the Lord's Day and is history worth remembering. Cynthia Brown is a historical researcher, writer and oral history trainer. Sunday 4th  June 6.30pm   Constellations from Mythology  to the Modern Day Mary McIntyre   Humans have studied the night sky since the dawn of time. This talk covers some of the constellation mythological stories from around the world, how they were named and some of the superstitions surrounding astronomical events. Mary then goes on to talk about how we view constellations in the modern day and some of the interesting things that reside within them.   Mary McIntyre is an Oxfordshire based amateur astronomer and astrophotographer who has had a life-long interest in Astronomy.   She is  passionate about astronomy outreach and loves sharing her knowledge and experience.   This will be a Zoom talk which will be shown in Secular Hall and a...
